Guided Kayak Tour in the Gulf of Cagliari: Route, Start Time and Who It Suits
Updated October 18, 2026 · 5 min read
The answer first. The Guided Kayak Excursion in the Gulf of Cagliari costs €71.50 per person, lasts 3.5 hours and has 4.9 stars from 210 reviews. It is a morning paddle of about 7 km along the cliffs of Capo Sant’Elia with swimming and snorkelling stops, and it is meant for beginners. If you want to see the same coast without paddling, a boat trip is the easier choice.
The route
The booking page lists the stops in order. After a short lesson and kit handout, you set off from Marina Piccola and pass in front of Poetto beach. There is a stop of about 15 minutes near the Gianfranco Pools, where you can snorkel, then you pass the Grotta dei Colombi. A second 15-minute stop follows at Cala Fighera. You then go by Capo Sant’Elia, the Grotta del Cavallino (the guide enters it only if the weather allows), an old tuff quarry and the foot of the Capo Sant’Elia lighthouse.
The one stop on land is about 30 minutes at Calamosca, where the page mentions a snack bar and toilets. It is the only landing because, according to the operator, the harbour authority’s beach ordinance does not allow landing on the stretch before it. The paddle back passes the rocks locally called Crocodile and Mushroom.

Who cannot join
The booking page excludes children under 8 and pregnant women. It does not state a fitness requirement beyond calling the tour suitable for beginners after the initial lesson, so 7 km of paddling is worth thinking about honestly if you rarely exercise. One reviewer calls the pace just right. Another says the start waited for latecomers, so be on time yourself. For accessibility questions, ask the operator before you book.
Kayak or boat?
A kayak gets you into the small coves and gives you the cliffs from water level, but you do the work and the weather matters more. The Devil’s Saddle boat trips show you the same coast from a boat, with several swim stops and no paddling. For other options on the water, the page for boat tours in Cagliari has 41 offers from €30, and snorkelling tours has 28 from €31.20.
If you would rather stay on land afterwards, the Molentargius flamingo tour takes 1.5 hours and is a good second outing for another morning.
