Good to know: Read the exact meeting point before paying. The Gulf of Angels, the Molentargius lagoon and Poetto beach all lie on the edge of the city; Nora, Barumini, Chia and Villasimius are day trips of roughly an hour each way by road. Cagliari is not the base for Costa Smeralda or the Gulf of Orosei: both lie hours away on the other side of the island, and we do not list them here. Check the all-aboard time of your ship against the tour length, and whether the tour starts at the port or elsewhere.

Where do boat tours in Cagliari start?

Most start in Cagliari itself, but a few begin elsewhere on the gulf, for example in Quartu Sant’Elena or Torre delle Stelle. The meeting point differs by operator, so read it on the listing before you book.

Can I see the flamingos in Cagliari?

Flamingos live in the Molentargius lagoon park next to Poetto beach, on the edge of the city, and several walking, bike and Segway tours go there. Sightings depend on season and water levels, so no tour can promise them.

How far are Nora, Barumini and Villasimius?

Nora is roughly 40 minutes from Cagliari by road; Barumini, Chia and Villasimius are about an hour each way. Half-day and day trips are sold from the city, but ask how much of the listed duration is spent driving.

Is Poetto beach within walking distance of the old town?

No. Poetto lies on the eastern edge of the city, beyond the Sella del Diavolo headland. Plan for a bus, a bike or a car rather than a walk from the old town.

What does Cagliari not have?

Cagliari is a working port city with a long urban beach, not a resort cluster. Costa Smeralda and the Gulf of Orosei lie hours away on the other side of the island, and we do not list tours starting there. What it does have is the Castello district, Roman and Punic sites, and day trips into the south.
