Chia and Tuerredda from Cagliari: Beach Tour or Rental Car?
Updated October 18, 2026 · 5 min read
The answer first. Without a car, the easiest way to see both beaches in one day is the Chia and Tuerredda Full-Day Beach Tour: €89 per person, 8 hours, 4.9 stars from 181 reviews, by car or minivan with a local guide. With a car and a free day you are more flexible, but in summer you must plan parking and beach access.
The tours
| Tour | Price | Duration | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full-Day Beach Tour | €89 | 8 hours | 181 |
| Small-Group Chia and Tuerredda Beach Tour | €89 | 8 hours | 80 |
| 4x4 Mountains and Beaches, Chia or Villasimius | €80 | 8 hours | 312 |
Full-Day Beach Tour – €89, 8 hours. White-sand beaches on the south-west coast of Sardinia, a relaxed day, no driving. For Tuerredda the booking page lists an entry fee of €3 per person, paid directly to the guide. The group is limited to 8 participants; the page lists children under 2 and people with mobility impairments as not suitable.
Small-Group Chia and Tuerredda Beach Tour – also €89 and 8 hours, 4.8 stars, 80 reviews. The description adds golden dunes, flamingo lagoons and viewpoints. The price is the same and this tour is also limited to 8 participants according to its booking page, so choose on the programme and equipment: a beach mat is included, snorkelling gear is not, and pick-up at your accommodation costs extra. In July and August a reservation for Tuerredda is mandatory; the €3 fee is paid in cash to the guide. Pregnant women and people with mobility impairments are excluded, and pets are not allowed.
4x4 Mountains and Beaches, Chia or Villasimius – €80, 8 hours, 4.8 stars, 312 reviews. You pick Chia or Villasimius, and the day combines mountain tracks with beaches. According to the booking page the day runs from 9:30 to 17:30, beach entry is included in the price, and the group is limited to 12 participants. The Chia option has one hour of easy off-road with Tuerredda, Su Giudeu and Cala Cipolla, while the Villasimius option has less off-road with Porto Giunco and Cala Sinzias.
If you want other beaches from the same city, the day trips from Cagliari page has 31 trips from €55.
Doing it yourself
By bus. The regional operator ARST runs a line to Chia (listed as 129C) from the Cagliari bus station, but one source puts the interval at two to three hours, and sources describe no direct bus to Tuerredda itself. Treat it as a way to reach Chia, not the whole day. Check the current timetable on ARST’s website.
By car. A rental car is the flexible option: you can arrive before the crowds, leave when you like and add a second beach. The honest downsides are summer parking and rules at the beaches themselves. Parking at Tuerredda is paid, and in the busiest season authorities in Sardinia limit visitor numbers at some beaches. For Tuerredda this means a daily cap managed with digital tools, according to Italian press reporting, and the details for each summer are published late. Check the municipality of Teulada’s official information before you go, and arrive early.
If you decide to drive, you can compare rental cars for Cagliari; check the excess and the deposit on the booking page before you pay.
Which one
Choose the guided tour if you do not want to deal with parking, reservations or driving after a day in the sun. Choose a rental car if you are staying a week and will use it for other trips. Choose the 4x4 only if you actually want the off-road part; for beaches alone the standard tours are the plainer fit.
For the other direction from Cagliari, Su Nuraxi in Barumini is the inland day.
